I. Clothing is supplied as suitable for general ice skating activities and skate training and where specified sporting activities such as dance or gymnastics. Fabrics may become damaged in the course of such activities, particularly where ice skate boots, blades and toe-picks may come into contact with clothing items. Whilst some resilience is expected for active sportswear, SkateCat cannot take responsibility for damage caused by other ice skating equipment. Sports clothing supplied for other activities such as dance, gymnastics etc, may also be subject to damage due to poor flooring or other damaging equipment, in this respect, refunds can only be given where the item shows a manufacturing fault which limits the usefulness of the garment in connection with these activities.
II. If an item has tags removed or shows obvious signs of having been used or worn, SkateCat will not refund the value unless the product is defective.
III. Garments should be laundered according to manufacturers instructions. Where rhinestones have been applied by SkateCat, customers should take additional precautions to prevent damage or loosening of the rhinestones. Rhinestoned items should be washed inside out on a delicates cycle (low temperature) or hand washed in warm water. They are not suited to tumble drying as rhinestones can chip and the heat within a dryer may cause the rhinestones to loosen. The item should not be ironed in the area of the rhinestone application as the glue responds to direct heat and will become tacky.
I. Figure Skates and Blades may have slight differences in the finish, this does not necessarily constitute a flaw. Care should be taken to ensure the boot is suitable for the level of skating and fits according to manufacturers recommendations. Poor fitting may result in early boot breakdown. Whilst SkateCat takes every care to advise customers of the correct size, the customer is expected to indicate any size or fit problem at or soon after the point of sale and provided the boot has not been used, the item may be returned within 14 days of purchase, except where blades have been fitted according to customer requirements.
II. SkateCat takes no responsibility for foot discomfort or associated medical problems arising from skating activity or use of the equipment. Foot problems or discomfort relating to skating activities should be discussed with a qualified medical practitioner or podiatrist. Some heat modification of the boot may be necessary to alleviate pressure points and ensure a good fit - SkateCat has boot moulding equipment and can advise on suitable procedures.
III. Skates cannot be returned if they have been used on the ice unless they are defective. Any fault in laces suppled with boots does not constitute a flaw in the boots supplied and SkateCat will be happy to replace laces found to be faulty within 14 days.
I. Accessories such as blade guards, soakies, laces etc are designed to be used in connection with the appropriate activities. A fault arising caused by use in other activities will not be considered as a legitimate reason for return. Where Accessories are designed to protect skaters, they should be used in accordance with manufacturers instructions. SkateCat accept no liability for any injury caused by the use of such equipment.
I. SkateCat supply skating boots both with and without blades. Some boots which are supplied with fitted blades can be ordered without blades if the skater needs a different blade to be fixed to the boot. Additional charges will apply to purchases of this type (please enquire).
II. Where both boot and blade are ordered separately, SkateCat will not mount the blades unless specifically required to do so. SkateCat will mount the blades in accordance with manufacturers recommendations unless the customer indicates an alternative requirement. Blades that are considered to not be the correct size for the boot will not be fitted. Blades are fitted with screws placed in the adjustable slots only to retain the ability to make adjustment after basic skating to establish the best placement, before fixing the permanent countersunk screws. If SkateCat are to fix the countersunk screws, the boots would need to be returned to the shop, alternatively the screws would be provided for the customer to complete installing the correct screws. BOOTS SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR LONG TERM SKATING WITHOUT COUNTERSUNK SCREWS as the slotted holes will not hold the blade firmly and safely.
III. Where SkateCat installs separately purchased blades, the item will be considered as having been supplied according to the client’s specification and cannot therefore be returned unless the item is found to be faulty.
I. You have the right to cancel the purchase of a goods ordered on-line without having to give a reason at any time within the "cooling off period" of 14 working days, beginning on the day after you receive the goods. You then have 14 days to effect the return of the goods and must keep a record of having dispatched the goods to the appropriate address. II. If you are in possession of the goods you are under the duty to retain them and take reasonable care of them without handling more than would be expected for an assessment within a retail skate shop. Ice Skates cannot be returned after having been used on ice unless they are faulty. III. Creasing at the ankle is not necessarily a fault depending on the style. The breaking in period needed for harder boots often involves a degree of flexibility being worked into the leather before being ideal for higher level skating. IV. SkateCat are happy to provide technical information in relation to any boot purchase which will indicate the level of skating suited to particular boot models. Information is also available online from the manufacturers’ websites.
